Crux Fermentation Project
About Crux Fermentation Project
Founded on June 30, 2012, by legendary brewmaster Larry Sidor along with Dave Wilson and Paul Evers, Crux Fermentation Project represents over four decades of Pacific Northwest brewing expertise. Sidor, after his celebrated tenure at Deschutes Brewery where he developed iconic beers like The Abyss, The Dissident, and Red Chair NWPA, struck out to create his own experimental and collaborative brewery. Located in a converted AAMCO transmission shop in downtown Bend with stunning mountain views of the Cascade Range, Crux embodies its name—fermentation as the pivotal point of brewing, and "Project" describing their experimental nature. The brewery is known for innovation across all beer styles, from classic IPAs to barrel-aged sours and mixed fermentation ales. Though Sidor retired from day-to-day operations in 2022, Crux continues his legacy of award-winning brewing and fearless experimentation, making it a must-visit destination in Bend's thriving craft beer scene.
