Funkwerks was founded in December 2010 by Gordon Schuck and Brad Lincoln, two brewing enthusiasts who met while studying brewing science at the prestigious Siebel Institute in Chicago. The Fort Collins brewery specializes in Belgian-style saisons, sours, and barrel-aged beers, carving out a unique niche in Colorado's competitive craft beer scene. Gordon's brewing prowess was evident early on—his Saison won a gold medal at the 2007 National Homebrew Competition. Funkwerks' flagship Saison has earned multiple Great American Beer Festival medals, including silver in 2011, gold in 2012, and another gold in 2017. Their Belgian-Style Golden Strong Ale, Deceit, won GABF gold in 2012 and World Beer Cup silver in 2014. The brewery's dedication to traditional Belgian farmhouse ales with a modern American twist has made it a destination for saison lovers nationwide.
